Halloween Treats

This video-based lesson shows a range of different Halloween treats that can be made easily at home using cookies and candy from the supermarket (note that the video has no voice-over). This lesson prepares students to tackle the B2 First (Use of English and) Reading paper, part 7 – multiple matching. Students are introduced to the topic of this lesson via a short discussion task similar to part 1 of the Speaking paper. They identify parallel expressions and try a mini task to familiarise themselves with instructions and techniques before completing a full practice task. There is also an opportunity to define useful language in context. An optional extension activity gives students practice in exam-style listening (part 2) and could be further extended into a story-telling project.
