Summer
Pre-intermediate (A2-B1)

In this lesson plan, students learn and practise using summer vocabulary. There are activities on summer clothes, sports and activites, and summer fruits. There is also a listening activity on summer facts, plus vocabulary with the word 'sun'.

Summer fun
Pre-intermediate (A2-B1)

This lesson focuses on the theme of summer. To engage with the topic, students use the prompts to generate ideas about summer. They then identify collocations about summer activities before playing a sentence transformation game which involves changing the phrases to the past. They then practise the use of the language in a picture gap-fill activity. To develop the topic further, students then watch a short, animated film about a group of friends enjoying the summer. After discussing the main idea of the film, the students work together to describe what the friends did using the past simple. The students finish the lesson with a communicative task which gives them an opportunity to personalise the topic, review the language, and practise past simple questions. There is an additional writing task on the same topic.

Elementary (A1-A2)

Students learn and practise summer vocabulary in this lesson plan. There are exercises on summer food, clothes, and sports and activities. At the end of the lesson, students ask each other questions about summer.

Students test and expand their knowledge on barbecue traditions around the world while building their vocabulary, discussion, speaking, reading and listening comprehension skills. Included is an optional essay activity for students to share their country's traditions and improve their writing skills.

Ice cream
Pre‐Intermediate (A2-B1)

Students complete a mind map about words related to ice cream before listening to an interview with an ice cream maker. The language point is recognising different types of adverbs and their positions in sentences. Students activate the grammar and vocabulary in a structured pair work speaking activity. There is also an optional extension relating to unusual ice cream flavours.

Pre‐Intermediate (A2-B1)

In this lesson plan, students listen to a conversation between two work colleagues about going to the pool. The worksheet focuses on listening comprehension, vocabulary development and grammar (modal verbs of permission, necessity and prohibition).

At a campsite
Pre‐Intermediate (A2-B1)

The topic of this lesson is camping and the outdoors. Students listen to a dialogue between two friends on a camping trip. The worksheet introduces some common phrasal verbs, and there is a discussion activity at the end in which students talk about the advantages and disadvantages of various travel items.

Adventure holiday
Pre‐Intermediate (A2-B1)

Students revise past participles and define vocabulary related to adventure holiday activities before listening to a dialogue. They contrast the use of present perfect with past simple and activate this language in a pair work "truth and lies" interview. There is also a short optional extension activity to review past participles in a wordsearch.

Visiting Croatia
Upper-Intermediate (B2-C1)

In this lesson you will be learning all about Croatia. You will be given the opportunity to learn all about the country and some of the best places to visit if you were to travel there. Within the lesson you will learn interesting and useful vocabulary while discussing Croatia. There will be chances to share your opinions and discuss the similarities or differences with Croatia and your own country.

Visiting Portugal
Upper-Intermediate (B2-C1)

This lesson will look at travelling in Portugal. Learners will be given the opportunity to learn all about Portugal, with an audio section focusing on the main tourist attractions of the country and an article which covers a five-day speedy trip from Lisbon to Porto. Within the lesson, students will learn new vocabulary and then personalise it by talking about Portugal and its similarities or differences with their own countries.
